Congratulations to Dr Rebecca Ryell, Dr Ahmed Salih and Dr Stuart Kyle on being elected to represent Morgannwg LMC at GPC Wales. Stepping into these representative roles is a significant commitment, and we are incredibly grateful for their dedication to standing up for their colleagues and the wider medical profession.
The Welsh General Practitioners Committee (GPCW) is a vital subcommittee of GPC UK that represents the views of all GPs across Wales. The committee serves several crucial functions, including:
Conferring with Key Leadership: GPC Wales directly consults and confers with the Welsh Government and other external bodies on the issues that matter most to the profession.
A Voice for Local Practice: It acts as a direct conduit for the views of local medical committees (LMCs), ensuring local challenges reach national discussions.
Devolved Negotiations: The committee holds the delegated authority to negotiate on devolved healthcare matters affecting Wales.
As elected representatives for Morgannwg LMC, Dr Ryell, Dr Salih, and Dr Kyle will play a hands-on role in shaping the landscape of Welsh healthcare by:
Amplifying Your Voice: They will ensure that the specific needs, perspectives, and voices of Morgannwg's GPs are clearly heard during the committee's quarterly meetings.
Shaping Strategy and Policy: By sharing their unique on-the-ground expertise, they will provide expert opinions to help shape BMA strategies and safeguard a sustainable future for Welsh general practice.
Leading Specialized Projects: Beyond regular meetings, they will have the opportunity to assume specialized roles and spearhead projects within their specific areas of medical expertise.
Upholding Core Values: In alignment with the BMA, our three new representatives have committed to guiding general practice with the highest professional standards, championing core values of accountability, kindness, and mutual respect.
Please join us in celebrating Dr Rebecca Ryell, Dr Ahmed Salih, and Dr Stuart Kyle as they take on this vital work to improve general practice and support patients across Wales!
